To got with the WHINE on my ever so slightly used 2012 650 Executive?? :D
I hope it's normal, but since I've only had the bike 2 days and it has just over 3000 miles on it, I don't have any idea if it's a case of "they all do that" or not.
I'm guessing that the whining I'm hearing is likely from the gear train running the back wheel.
I'd appreciate your vast experience with this machine. 8)
Thanks
Bernd

My 2012 has 5500 miles on it. I have run full sys. 75/80 in the final drive since the 600 mile oil change and eiter its is quiet or I am so old I can't hear it. :(

Synthetic lube can quieten it down some but it is still there. Stand on the side of the road and have someone else ride it by, you will hear it. Sounds kind of like the Jetson mobile as it goes by.

My '09 Exec. developed a pronounced whine around 6k miles.
Switched to full syn. in engine and transmission and greatly reduced the whine.
Some months later, first new rear tire. I cleaned up the final drive hub gear - not much factory lube in there - and
gave it a good coating of Honda moly paste.
No more whine.

I notice that the whine is much less once in OD on flat ground without having much load on the engine. That is not fighting a head wind or going up hill.
