Has anyone come up with an alternate system to unlatch the trunk without using the key? I have the emergency unlatch deal using the fishing leader, but that is on the right side and not handy for regular use. I've tried to figure out a way to run it to the left side, but no luck. I hate having to get the key out every time I want to get in the trunk, but I still want it lockable. Thanks.

OK, I finally figured out a way to install an alternate way to unlatch the trunk. Seems unhandy to have to use the key all the time. Easy job to do. First remove the two rear pieces of tupperware, then take out the 2 bolts holding the latch in place. I attached a piece of 12 gauge electrical wire to the latch where the OEM cable attaches. I then installed a small pulley so I could route the new release to the left side of the scoot. Run the wire thru the pulley and then fish thru the tupperware down to the hole thats already there just in front of the hole for the push pin that attaches the lower tupperware. Put a key ring on that end and done. I lubed the wire so it would slide along the route better. It only moves about 1/8 inch to release. Now I just reach down under the side case and pull down.

blackcat54. Did you install one of the electric accuators you linked in your response? If you did, I and the rest of the the gang would appreciate some pictures on the installation. Thanks in advance.

No, this is just a wire operated manually like the oem, only don't need the key to operate it.

That's genius. Just hope nobody but you knows it's there.....
I don't think anybody trying to get in the trunk would think to look down there. Its pretty well hidden by the side cases, and you have to get down pretty low to see the little key ring. And I know that no one on this forum would even think about breaking into someone's else's burgey. Btw, I just leave the key in the side cases because they would be so easy to break into anyway. Just don't put anything very valuable in them. I need new rain gear anyway.
