There is some room to play with (on the 400s) if you loosen up the acorn nuts and re tighten while holding in the direction you prefer. I actually ovaled my holes out so I could get more adjustment out of mine. Mine was too tight for me.
Remove the plastic piece covering the seat latch.
Look for the arm where the jacket of the release
cable is mounted. Now check for excessive play of the
release cable itself at the seat latch release arm.
The desired adjustment is 'no pressure/no clearance'... in other words..no slop. Any free slop at this point,
results in difficult operation at the key.
You may need to make a slight forming adjustment of the
arm that holds the cable jacket..just enough to remove
any 'free-play/slop' in the center pull cable.
While you are into the latch mechanism, a drop or 2 of
fine oil on the pull cable & on the seat latch itself
will help keep things working in the future.
