Looking at the speedometer what is the proper speed to up shift to 6th or OD gear without lugging the engine. I now shift at around 70 MPH and wonder if I could shift earlier.

Shift? Shift? What is this "Shift" you speak of?? I bought mine so I wouldn't have too! But, I do kick it in to 6/OD when I reach "cruising" speed (60+) to improve mpg.

Mine will pull okay in 6th smoothly,if slowly from about 53mph upwards, but the response is much better if I wait until I'm over 60mph.

So generally I go to 6th when over 60mph on the way up or staying at speed, and wait until under 55mph (normally around 50mph) before changing down, or going back into drive.
If it's only a short stretch I'll leave it in drive, but once clear of town, I use 6th a lot.
