I tried doing a search and could not find this. On my 2005 the max MPG that is indicated is 50. On the new 2013 is it still limited? I keep reading that your MPG is much greater so I was just wondering.

Hi Easy 650,

The mpg I got on my new 2013 650 was a flat 50 mpg. That was ALL in town, short stop and go trips with lots of red lights. There were a few hard throttle bursts for "breaking-in" purposes. A couple fill-ups ago, I got 57 mpg. That was the one that included a couple moderate "trips" at 55-60 mph steady. On a straight run, long trip going from station to station, I would be shocked if I did not get over 60 mpg.

I think what he's asking, is if the MPG readout on the dash is limited to 50 MPG, or if it now shows higher numbers.

The 2013 650 will show higher than 50 MPG. I have seen 61.4 on my readout. I might also mention that the readout is about 5 to 6 MPG lower then actual.

Dash MPG readout on 2013

When I gassed up earlier today, my readout indicated 51 MPG; trip odometer reading divided by gallons on the pump yielded 56 MPG and change, so the MPG readout is a little pessimistic........good general indication, though I am not yet sure how optimistic the odometer might be......hope it is less so than the indicated MPH on the speedometer which seems to be somewhere around 6% optimistic...still doing break-in miles, so we shall see what we shall see as the moving parts get to know each other more intimately.

Good question I'd be curious how the speedometer (not going to be the same analog as digital) and odometer measure up in 2013 accuracy wise being the earlier ones read about 10% high in speed and 2% high in distance.

According to the owners manual it can display up to 99.9 MPG.

I checked my 2005, using mileage and gas used to fill, it came in at 49.8mpg,

But I also checked my Honda NC700X, it got 77.68-mpg last tank, and that was some spirited riding, Amazing!!.

Rerunrj,

I like the 2013 very much, the gas mileage is very good, the scoot seems to be lighter then the 09 or 11 650 I had when you are riding it. The mirrors give me a better view of the road behind me. seat seems to be a bit wider on the 2013. I also like the looks of the 2013. The only fault I have found so far is doing the changing of the oils. On the pre 2013s all I had to take off was the hump cover (to fill the oil) and the final drive cover, I always filled the transmission via the check oil level hole. On the 2013 there a big piece of Tupperware that has to be removed to fill the transmission and it is a PITA to remove. Lots of screws, pushpins to remove. Also many, many snaps that you have to be very careful not to break. All in all I am glad that I bought it. I was thinking of going back to the 400 but glad that I didn't.

That was what it was designed to do....good stuff.
You must be a very good short shifter tho....NC700x did not appeal to me at all due to the rev limiter.

What's your range on the bike?

2013 mpg

I checked mpg on new 650 , holding rpms to under 4000 as per owners manual , and clocking 190 miles per Garmin 550 gps and used 2.88 gallons for result of 65.97 mpg . I know it won't be that good when broken in because of my heaver hand . meerkat
