My buddy found this in Craigslist
http://inlandempire.craigslist.org/mcd/3546325814.html

New 2013 for $8799
Mountain Motorsport, Ontario, CA is an authorized Suzuki dealer. How can this be?? $1100 less than the MSRP on a 2012?? Loss leader - that doesn't make sense. Maybe it's the floor model they shipped from motorcycle show to motorcycle show? Is there something fishy here?

If someone in So. Cal is in the market - you might want to check this out.

I think I've been out there once. Seems to good to be true but calling should get the answer. It does say condition is new.

I have a strong hunch when you get there they will have added close to $2000 in set-up & delivery charges. That's something they do at almost all Kalifornia dealers. They know we can't buy out of state & they STICK it to us. That's only about $800 over what I was quoted last week for a 2012 650 Bergman in Temecula.

+1
Adding it on later was my first thought. The low price is just to get people in the door.

Bait and switch?
It's about the same thing that the airlines used to do...
quote you a low-ball price for a seat to get you booked,
then add reservation fees, terminal use fees, baggage
fees, security fees, bathroom fees...opps...they never
told anyone about that one....by the time you actually
got on the airplane, your out-of-pocket costs had doubled.
Glad the Feds put a stop to that...quoted prices now have
to include everything except fees for checked baggage...
& for that, they have to tell you upfront how much it is.
Sort of an 'out-the-door' price.

I had that happen over here at Mission Motorsports on a Burgy years ago. They had it on ad in the Cycle Trader for a good price plus Tax, License, and Title which is what I would expect however when I got there they wanted to tack on the shipping/assembly charge which brought the price back up to guess what? MSRP! I was pissed because it was advertised and did not state there were additional fees which were not in the advertisement. I will never buy a bike there EVER! :angryfire:

My '09 I bought at what was OTD Motorsports in LA (now LA Cycle Sports) because I got a out the door price of $7,499.00 with 2.99% interest and the deal DIDN'T change when I showed up to get it.

My buddy bought ha dealership and there's no BS with his deals, even the usual price difference when trading in. He said he hated it when he got nailed and swore he wouldn't run his shop like that. Good work, knowledgable, and honest, just too bad it's just Yamaha ATVs and snowmobiles.

Yeah, the price is to get you in the door, then dealer leaves it to the salesman to extract the highest delivery/setup charges as well as the highest margin on an extended warranty. If the buyer is a saavy negotiator, he/she could end up with a decent deal. But at the end of the day, it will probably be very close to a no-hassle OTD deal.

There's one other thing to watch out for...never get stuck/shafted by DOCUMENTATION FEES......
you're trying to tell me that the gal in the office sits there all day, doing nothing, & not getting paid
until it is time for her to print out my paperwork on some computer program...so you're charging me
a DOCUMENTATION FEE to pay for her time???

Are you also going to charge me for Landscaping Service, & Parking Lot Maintenance?
How about your annual heating/air conditioning service?
Give me an OTD price with no BS.

Hi,

This seems to be standard operating proceedure with some of the CA dealers. I tried to buy a 2012 400 for the advertised price of $5,988 and had the sales manager call me back to point out that this did not include 1) shipping from Japan to their location and 2) dealer setup. I pointed out - politely as I could - "wait, so there is no way anyone could buy this bike for the advertised price". They danced. I filed a protect with the better business bureau. They danced in repsonse to my filing. But I doubt this will change anything.

Some? This time of year they are hungry & you can usually avoid the junk charges if you haggle. When Winter is over they ALL do it. They don't have the competition from other states like elsewhere. We have to buy the Kalifornia compliant vehicles. They aren't even charging for the shipping from Japan, just from San Pedro. You can buy a bike in Torrance only a few miles away & they want at least 500 dollars to "ship" a 150 cc bike.

I don't see how the dealer can advertise the bike unless California gets theirs first; like, months earlier. My dealer just told me the other day that they don't have an MSRP or an availability date, yet, for the 2013s.

I have deposit on a 2013 650 and as of today the price is still "TBA". My dealer said he would match any dealer so please let us know what you paid so I can get the same price. Right now we agreed on $9000 plus all the fees and taxes and that based on 2012 prices. I called the corporate office and said March release. Sold my 09 in Nov thinking the 13s would be out soon but I'm still waiting. :(
