Well wasn't looking for a new one but got a firm offer of $9900 out the door. With my down & the 0% for 60 months, payments are $108. Need to talk with my wife but what does everyone think. :?: Remember I'm in California and they don't give Burgman's away around here. All the used ones are over suggested retail around here.

I'd check with LA Cycle Sports first (I know it's not the closest being in LA but might be worth it), give them a call. I bought my '09 non Exec for $7500 OTD two years ago. They give no BS pricing.

Called they don't have any 2012 650's. My quote is from Temecula Motor Sports. Also have a OTD price for a 09 exc with 7200 miles on it @ $6339. New tires & tags good until 12/13. So come this Saturday I'll have one or the other (Lord willing).
Wife will have the final say on what one as I don't care one way or the other. I just need a BURGMAN to ride. 8)

Payments are still payments, even at 0% interest. And if you decide to sell it in a year or so, you will owe more than you can get for it in a sale because of the depreciation cost. I lean towards buying used unless I know I will own the vehicle till it drops dead many years in the future...especially if the difference between the new and used vehicle is minimal.

I remember one of the last new cars I bought with a loan. I liked it a lot, but walked out to the parking lot one night after work. As I saw it sitting there, I did not think of how beautiful it was. I thought instead of how many years I still had before I would be debt free again. :( I've never forgotten that experience. It has made me cringe, whenever I think of any payment but a house payment.

Sorry to be a wet blanket...

Not a problem. I asked for what everyone thinks. I will ride it as I put 46,818 on my 07 before I sold it so not planning on walking away from it. Unless the Lord has different plans for me that is. Even on the used one I'll finance part at 0% for a year.
I know were you are coming from, Dave Ramasy 101.

As I wrote in the PM I just sent you, I'll paste part of that here. It is worth it for others to read as well.

I am a little concerned with the direction the world financial markets are heading. Cyprus and the EU have just taken an unprecedented step by confiscating depoitor's funds. Supposedly, it is only for wealthy investors, but they left two branch banks open in London and the wealthy depositors have been withdrawing their funds. The only ones left to pay the price of bailing out the Cyprus banks, will be people like you and me. Banks, including the US banks invest globally. Whatever happens over there will affect us here. And other EU banks are close to following suit.

If you have a loan and have your financial situation take a tumble for any reason, you still owe the money.
As you wrote, it is a little Dave Ramsey 101.

I just purchase a new Burgman myself. I am fortunate enough to have had enough cash to but it outright, but at zero percent is like using other peoples money for free. At one condition, however: I made sure (and I try to do so with all important purchases) of not being "upside=down" when I left the dealership.
My bike now is worth a bit more than $ 7k (KBB), but my loan is much less than that...
Good luck with your purchase!

Have one more offer to think about. 2011 650 exc. OTD $8611. Still has 0% for 60 months. Is 400 miles away so will cost some to go up there. Would put it in the back of my truck as & wouldn't want to ride it on the freeway home trying to break it in. I would get run over in California going that slow on our interstates

Well if you are going 400 miles , this is my 2011 exec with a top box, clearview screen, modulating headlights , regularly serviced etc etc. and only 7790, which btw is way more than they gave me.

So I'm sort of with Chris, buy used and get all the farkles, no idea on the 0 % , but you'll spend a bunchononet stuff so at be a wash

Got mine back in October for 9800 OTD with the 600 mile service and service manual included. I also took the financing and am paying 78 a month but have been putting in extra, she should be paid off by the end of next month.

No 0 % finance on a used one + I don't care for rear top boxes. Sacramento is more like 500 + miles from me. 09 used I'm looking at has only 7300 miles and is 90 miles away.
If I buy new 'll also pay more then just the minimum payment , like I'm doing on all the bills I owe.

I asked about yesterday. I might be able to get them lower, but this was their response. It was in Troy Indiana.

$9,523.00 all taxes and with the 5 year extended protection plan. Let me know if you have any other questions.

What would be your bottom line, out the door price including tax and 5 year extended warranty. I have excellent credit and would be financing.

I've made up my mind. I'm going with the 09 exc. with 7200 miles on it, new tires, tags good until 12/12. It's at a cycle shop in Oceanside Ca. Getting it for $6339 OTD  Picking it up Saturday and riding it home. 8)

Getting it from a cycle shop not a dealer. Did get 0 % on the $2,000 I financed as my chase card is giving me 0 % for 12 months. So I wrote my credit union a check & then took out cash which is what I'm buying it with come Saturday.
