It will be interesting to see if the 2005s continue the tradition.

It is kind of 'funny', when I got my 650 I kind of thought it sounded 'scooterish'.
Having tried the startup sound on various people I am told that the sound of a Burgman is NOT 'scooterish' but more BMWish.
The sound is like a Beemer!

Noise

I had the misfortune of putting cheap gas in my burgie and I picked
up about twice as much rattling.. I'm fairly sure that the
extra rattling was pre-ignition. (Not good) It's gone since I returned
to the higher quality gas.

Sounds beemerish

Now that you mention it. My last bike was a 92 R100RT, the old boxer model. They do sound very similar, which may be why I was instantly comfortable with the Burg.

Cal gas

Yes, it's Cal gas. But the cheap stuff I put in once added a lot
of rattles to the bike.

Cal gas has either alcohol or other chemicals in it. What you notice
is that you loose some power. You can get this in Supreme or
regular. The regular rattles, the supreme doesn't.
