In order to remove the upper back panel, You must remove the lower tail panel. There are two push pins. They are located on both sides at the bottom of the lower panel. They are smaller than most other pins on the bike. Remove them and pull the lower panel back and slightly down. Once panel is removed as shown above, remove those push pins you see between the tail lights.
