+1, Chet. Thats what i did. Cost all of about 3 bucks. My only wish is that the d-rings were stainless. My d-rings are starting to show some rust as were the screws. Fixed the screws by using black rustoleum spray paint. They work excellent.

It's a machine type screw which has threads like a bolt, a screw like head, and a flat tip.

I just picked 4 of them up (stainless 6mm X 12 long) .. Now looking for a D ring.. small Hardware store... the 12 MM length screws all the way in.. so I need to get something that it will hold in like a D ring hanger or something..

The screws and rings I found at Lowes are stainless steel, the cable clamps are galvanized. They can be found in the same area the nuts and bolts are located.
From the hills of Tennessee Welcome to another day the Lord has made 2009 White Burgman 400
I got some 6MM X 10 MM long hex head bolts, some small nylon spacers and some zinc with rubber solid metal hose clamps that should wortk.. The only problem is that despite the spacers .. I still screwed up the job.. I backed out the bronze ferrels that are theaded and in the holes in the grab rails.. The bolts were very hard to screw in as the hose clamps put a lot of tension on them so I used a socket wrench and thought I was being careful.. I wasn't.. DUH !! I saw a little bronze colored thing & thought Uh Oh.. what's that? and they pulled right out.. Getting them back in isn't easy.. I have caused enough damage.. so I pushed them in and walked away... Bungi project aborted.. The reason I do nothing myself.. Not a particularly light touch.. so it doesn't take much to get those things so they are falling out of the holes..

I personally like the D-Ring approach as it offers the most amount of versatility for making connections.
Thanks.. I wonder if it's possible to get the threaded fairings back into the grab rail.. Glue ? They don't want to just slide in and I am done with applying more force to make things work..

Do you mean the threaded hole came out? They may be called threaded insert.
Whatever it's called.. it came out of the hole.. It has a bunch of sharp ridges on it, I assume to create friction so it will stay in place... Pushing it back into the hole, it only goes so far and probably leaves an eighth of an inch sticking out. and no more.. I though abut a rubber hammer or something.. but stopped there.. I can mickey mouse the bungi cords around the grab rails .. No idea it was so much hassle. and I screwed that up..

Not sure if it would work but maybe a threaded insert. I think I saw something at the Home Depot they use for wood. It threads into the wood and has machine threads on the inside.

I've carried my golf clubs on my 650. The first question that comes to mind is - how do you see behind you with the clubs sideways? My clubs completely block the mirrors sitting sideways. My solution was to use an old plastic milk box to raise the clubs up - with them on the box I can see under the clubs and behind me just fine. I use a couple of those ratchet straps from the auto parts store used for tying bikes down on trailers and trucks. The ones with plastic coated hooks. I put a Givi top case on my 650 so I had to remove the back rest. The upside of that is I can place my golf clubs inline with the bike and the mirrors aren't blocked.

Noth, you can press the brass inserts back in, just be careful. Check the depth of the hole before you try to put it back in, then screw the screw you used that pulled it out, into the insert making sure not to let it extend past the end of the insert. Start the insert by hand. Put something on top of the guard rail to protect it, thick padding of some type. Then use a pair of channel locks to go over the padding and the head of the screw and gently squeeze it back in place making sure to stop when it gets to the desired depth. OR.... just buy you a set of ROK straps.
I understand that.. I have a good selection of channelocks that will do the job.. can do. Thanks !

during my tear down I took some pics of the bungee cord attachment bolt-ins...
if those inserts have come loose, take them out, blow out any loose debris pieces in there find the strongest glue you can lay your hands on and re-install them and let it cure for a day or two before attempting to bolt on anything to it
I am sure there are some super heavy duty glue out there that will be able to do the job for you
good luck....
PS: if you are making repairs, it may be advisable to take the handle bar off and work on it instead of trying to repair it while it is on the scoot. very easy to remove... you can check this video for the removal process if you don't have a service manual:
Thanks.. and that would be the exact color of the thing I am looking at.

I guess I'll ask this again... How do you see behind you with the golf bag sitting sideways on the back seat? I tried this the first time I carried my clubs on the back and could not see anything but a golf bag - no rear view is unacceptable to me. I think its also very unsafe. I at least want to see a rear ender coming - I hate surprises.
As I posted above I have a Givi top box - I simply take the top box off when I want to carry the clubs. The top box platform gives me a great place to hook the rear ratchet strap. I put them in line on the seat and let them hang over the back. I tighten the ratchet straps just enough to hold them down firmly. I don't want to break the grab bars. Shaking the bag moves the whole scooter. Very secure and aerodynamic too.

That's a great idea.. I have the same issue with the mirrors on one side...I just ordered one of those Hybrid travel bags so the clubs would be more secure I will try the in line with the seat thing... I assume you put the top of the bag forward..I like that idea..There are a lot of carriers that fit HD's.. but nothing else..

I place the bag with the base at my butt - the clubs hang out over the tail lights but are very visible from behind. My bag is a stiff one - probably is a plastic tube - covered with fabric. I have a nylon dust cover with good snaps that keep the clubs in place very well. The two ratchet straps hold the bag securely without having to winch down hard on the ratchets. I hook the rear strap to the Givi bracket and the front one to the grab bar on either side.
I rode about 50 miles round trip today to golf with a good friend. I can hardly tell the bag is back there. We meet about once a month or so at a course that is about the same distance for both of us. He's beginning to get the idea that he should sell his very tall 650 BMW dual sport and buy a Burgman.

I used a simplier solution when I pack heavy the rear seat with bags and equipment. i went to Home Depot and bought A/C line padded insulation tubing, cut to legnth, covered the seat handles. I then slightly opened up the bunge cord hooks to the width of the seat handles. I was able to use three various legnths to accomodate the height and width requirements.

Anyone know where I can find a good net type bungee that will fit all the way across the passenger portion of the seat? Most I have looked at so far are just too small.

I bought one that was big enough to cover a 9 quart ice chest sitting on top of the passenger seat. I found it on the motorcycle accessories shelf in the auto section of Walmart. That was a couple of years ago though so can't say they still have them.

I've never had any problems using bungie cords on my Executive. They will fit over the handle with a little bit of force. You can also buy bungie like straps (2-3 inches wide) that have a inch and a half opening at the hook end. These are what I now use on my Vision.
